Dr. Judith Van Ginkel’s first book Life Begins and Ends With Girlfriends has sold over 15,000 copies since being published in 2007. A popular gift book about the nature of girlfriendships over a lifetime, the book includes the reflections of Judy and her friend and co-author Betsy Newman along with the stories from dozens of women. Women’s organizations throughout Ohio and the Midwest have invited Judy to share the message of the book with audiences who rarely purchase a single copy; rather, they purchase several books for friends and family.

Dr. Van Ginkel has a distinguished career as a champion for women and children's health and for supporting program initiatives with sound research. She is presently Professor of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and President of Every Child Succeeds (ECS), a $8 M home visitation program for first-time, at-risk mothers and infants she spearheaded with three founding partners: Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and the Hamilton County Community Action Agency/Head Start.

An innovative strategist and leader, Van Ginkel has been instrumental in establishing public policy on social service issues and health care. Examples include obtaining funding for a biomedical incubator at the University of Cincinnati that is creating products for the commercial market, chairing three health services levy campaigns, yielding $410 million, turning around Drake Center, a failing, old established Cincinnati institution for long-term care and, in only nine years, developing Every Child Succeeds into a major prevention program for mothers and infants.

Among her honors:
American Hospital Association NOVA Award (2008)
Urban League, Glorifying the Lions Award (2008)
Bridge Builders Award, Cincinnati/Hamilton County Community Action Agency (2007)
Purpose Prize Fellow, Civic Ventures (2007)
